Otoplasty
Otoplasty
Protruding ear is a condition in which the auricle is more prominent than normal due to the lack of development of the cartilage folds in the auricle. It is seen in approximately 5% of the population. Although it is not a functional disease, it can cause social problems and lack of self-confidence in children due to its appearance. This surgery can be performed with local or general anesthesia. The average surgery time is 1-2 hours. It is recommended that the surgery be performed between the ages of 4-6 to avoid social problems during the school period. Dressings and checks are performed in the first week after the surgery. An ear bandage is used for approximately 1 month. Compliance with the doctor's recommendations and regular check-ups will prevent undesirable results from occurring.
