Adenoid is the lymph tissue located on the roof of the nasal area behind the nose. As a result of the enlargement of adenoids, complaints such as nasal congestion, snoring, and sleep disturbance (apnea) may be observed. Adenoids usually start to grow after the age of 1 and gradually shrink after the age of 10, and are not observed on examination in most patients after the age of 13 to 15. Adenoid tissue plays a role as a focus of infection in the nasal cavity and can lead to middle ear problems by affecting the functions of the eustachian canal and chronic sinus infections by disrupting the normal ventilation and drainage of the sinuses. Other disadvantages of continuous mouth breathing are its negative consequences on dental health and the development of facial bones, and its negative effects on growth, development and mental functions due to insufficient oxygen intake. Adenoid Surgery is performed under general anesthesia and takes approximately 20 minutes. In the first 2-3 days after surgery, there may be light pink bleeding mixed with saliva. In case of fresh red blood or bloody vomit, the doctor should be notified. Tonsils are encapsulated lymph system tissues located on both sides of the throat. Tonsils become a source of chronic infection due to bacteria settling in the crypts they contain, and recurrent acute tonsillitis may occur in cases where body resistance decreases. At the same time, they can grow with the increase in lymph tissues as a result of recurrent infections and cause complaints such as snoring, difficulty sleeping and breathing (apnea). The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and the surgery takes around 20 to 30 minutes. In the first 2 to 3 days after surgery, there may be light pink bleeding mixed with saliva. In case of fresh red blood or bloody vomit, the doctor should be notified.
